Greased Pig

There is now a blue star on the new "default" Maine license plate.

Figuring out why that star is blue is like chasing a greased pig. There is no rational explanation for it. A star maybe. One of the stars on the American flag represents Maine - but blue, as in "blue state"...

What are my chances of ever coming across the answer to my question?
