Putting Newsweek to the Test

Do me a favor and read this Newsweek article and see if it doesn't give the impression that Russia saw a list of Republicans that don't oppose Russia and Putin and placed sanctions on them. I read this story in another news outlet and there was no mention of this list, only that Russia sanctioned the rest of Congress, the ones who had not already been sanctioned.

So in other words, from my perspective at least, readers of this Newsweek piece for some reason are led to believe that Russia identified 398 friendly allies in the U.S. Congress, representatives who disagree in some way with the mainstream media about the war, and sanctioned them so they can't enter Russia - no mention of those in Congress who agree with the mainstream media narrative. Were they on the list? You wouldn't know it by this article. You would need to read another news source to discover that the "list" of Republicans and conservatives had nothing to do with the new sanctions. My guess is that if you read Newsweek you really wouldn't care what the real story might be.

In other words, this Newsweek article is propaganda aimed against Republicans and conservatives and has nothing to do with the actual news story.

But you be the judge:

To phrase my point another way, this article makes it clear that nobody in Congress is free to say anything that contradicts mainstream media propaganda for fear of media retaliation. Newsweek has caught itself red-handed doing exactly that.
