Favoring Parents' Rights Is Orwellian?

Following the parents' rights story, the Republicans in the US House of Representatives passed a bill favoring parents' rights to know what public schools are teaching their kids, but the bill was assured to not be heard by the Senate:

Chuck Schumer Claims Republican Bill Supporting Parents’ Rights in Education is ‘Orwellian’

I'll need to think on this one. Considering that the Biden folks claim that concerned Conservative parents at school board meetings are domestic terrorists (I shit you not!) how on earth is it Orwellian to protect parents' rights? And why did Matt Gaetz of all people vote with the Democrats on this?

Update:

Here's an explanation of Gaetz's position:

Gaetz Votes Against Parental Rights Bill, Says Education is a State Issue

I have to say I disagree with Gaetz on this one. No state legislature can stop the US Attorney General and the President from calling concerned parents "terrorists". The US Congress can with enough support although as long as Democrats run the Senate and the White House, that'll never happen.

Democrats are abusing power and abusing the people throughout the country. From what I recall of 1984, that kind of government abuse combined with all the doublespeak and the gaslighting is Orwellian. Wasn't that what the book was all about?

The federal government has taken away parents' rights. No state can legislate them back in if federal law enforcement opposes it.

Sorry Matt.
