I think it was back in the Bush years after 9/11 that I read a Chomsky book about how the US had built nearly 200 military bases overseas to encircle and contain Russia and China and I started thinking hey, this guy is onto something, criticizing the empire that way. Then he just seemed to fade back into leftist oblivion. Nobody cared.

But now, how am I supposed to think about this leftist puritan icon after reading this?
