Seaplane Fly-In Moosehead Lake 2025

Yesterday I mentioned the Seaplane Pilots Association Fly-In held annually in Greenville, Maine for decades. Here is a video from this past weekend's event. Notice the weather. On fly-in weekend if the weather is good, quite a crowd of spectators engulf the entire town of Greenville. When the weather is rainy and cold, the crowd can be quite thin. In this video, the crowd is sparse, unfortunately. Being a Greenville native I've attended many of these fly-ins over the decades and I assure you it can be fun in good weather with large crowds. An added plus in good weather is when a hundred or more airplanes fly in to the Greenville airport, many of which come with families who camp overnight right with their airplanes in tents. The airport is also a popular spot for motorhome campers on fly-in weekend.

Saturday morning one of the fly-in participants managed to escape his sinking twin-engine amphibian a few miles up the lake as it descended to the bottom which, as far as I know, is where it still remains.
