Covid News March 27, 2020
This just came up in Fox News online, a healthy middle-aged Texas family man died from COVID-19. There don't seem to be many details other than that he was perfectly healthy otherwise which is, of course, what makes his death so frightening I suppose you might say. Here's the link to the local article:
Family: Virus killed a 'perfectly healthy' man
We the people have been led to believe that there was some sort of rush to get the two trillion dollar stimulus bill passed. The Democrats were taking their sweet time bickering with the Republicans about just how much socialist candy they should be stuffing into the bill in order to get Dems to vote for it. I imagine a bill like this is a risk for the Dems since if it does work it could make President Trump and the Republicans look good enough to vote for in November. Can't have that. But of course Washington isn't politicizing the pandemic.
Meanwhile the House of Representatives needs to vote on this stimulus bill but they don't want to congregate and pass the pandemic amongst themselves. Passing it is a rush now even though they have been stalling for over a week. The problem is there is a Republican from Kansas who is threatening to throw a monkey wrench into the process. Most of the representatives have already gone home thinking aw we don't need to hang out here in DC but this one Kentucky guy is saying he might call for a real vote meaning a quorum would be needed so panic has taken over in Washington and in all the news media because there is such a rush to get this stimulus passed. All this drama kind of hides another headline today, that the stimulus checks might take a month or two to actually get sent to the people. Ummmmm… Did somebody say there was a pressing need to get this legislation passed? Am I missing something?
President Trump seems to think the State of New York might possibly be doing the toilet paper thing with respect to the world's supply of respirators, trying to hoard that is. And the governor of New York State was so nice to the President just last weekend.
Trump is trying to mend some fences with China, like saying maybe we don't need to keep calling it the China virus. China is, after all, the primary manufacturer of America's medical supplies and supposedly they have miraculously been able to get their manufacturing back up and running while American manufacturing is staying put at home by social distancing everybody. Well, almost everybody. Not everybody. The airline industry is still actively spreading the disease all over the country but hey we don't talk about that now, do we?
