Angus Gump

Angus's 12 Questions

I came across a link in a January 30 article on the Bangor Daily News website to twelve questions Maine's Dumbo junior senator either wished to have asked or had asked at the impeachment trial. Here's the link:
One of the questions, question 11, proves that Maine's Senator Gump still holds the Russia collusion conspiracy theory dear to his heart! Question 12 makes every appearance of implying that the impeachment process had nothing at all to do with the whistleblower. In other words, I, Angus Gump, want the whole world to know that I am number than a pounded friggin' thumb.

What a disgrace to the State of Maine.

Maine's two members of the U. S. Senate are Susan Collins, a Republican, and Angus King, an Independent. Susan Collins has been in the senate almost since the beginning of time despite the fact that she originally convinced us gullible Maine voters that she favored term limits. Angus was the governor of Maine from 1995 till 2003. If I recall correctly he coined the phrase "Maine, the way life should be" which was hilarious since as soon as he was finished as our governor he flew the coop only to return later and convince us that his would be an independent voice in Washington politics. He came "from away" and now spends his time down in Washington only miles from his birthplace.

Independent indeed...

Angus King makes Forest Gump look like a genius

Most of us knew he was a Democrat in sheep's clothing. I think we originally voted him in as governor not because of his independent stances on Maine issues but rather because he came across as the better Democrat in the race. Maybe not. It was many years ago so my memory may not be serving me well.

In any case, here's some recent evidence to support the notion that "Independent" doesn't cut it:

Impeachment Trial: Angus King Outs Himself as the Democrat He Really Is  January 26, 2020

Angus King says impeachment acquittal would shift power to White House  January 26, 2020 Bangor Daily News
This one struck me as a bit odd when I read it this past weekend. Somehow if the Senate doesn't do exactly as the House of Representatives tells them to do, and by tells them I am referring to the two articles of impeachment approved on a party-line vote, pure Democrat Party vitriol against President Trump, then somehow the balance of power between the Executive branch of government and Congress will be forever shifted away from Congress. The Democrats have been making some huge claims recently regarding the impeachment but this one takes the prize. And here it is coming from our own "independent" senator no less!

Angus King speaks before President's Impeachment Trial reconvenes Tuesday  January 20, 2020 short video. King says he thinks "the vote will be successful" for the Senate to hear witnesses so they can "get to the bottom of what actually happened". He was deep into the Russia collusion conspiracy theory too. How'd that work out for him?

As some Mainers might say, "Independent my friggin' ass."
