I should probably be ashamed of myself for not expressing my views about all the insanity this year concerning protests. We watched while protest after protest resulted in damage to public property, disruption of people's lives, takeovers of and damage to public property, threats and intimidation against the public, looting, burning of businesses, deaths. We watched while liberal media and politicians kept reassuring us that these were "mostly peaceful" protests, not riots.
Then came January 6, 2021, Washington DC.
That's when we all learned that oh yes indeed these "protests" become riots when protesters damage property, trespass, throw punches, overpower police barriers. I say "we all" but that's not likely the case. Some still believe that their own just cause is the exception.
Myself, well I'm not inclined to make such excuses. What has been taking place all year all across the U.S. has, in my own mind at least, been idiotic and violent. I would have to be a total idiot to find myself caught up in that kind of rioting.
But you know, I tend to see things a bit differently than most and when I saw the anger and the riotous behavior in D.C. on January 6 and when I felt the pain and the embarrassment of the shooting of the Trump supporter, a woman, an Air Force veteran, something was triggered in my memory. It's like OK who fired the first shot? Who ultimately is responsible for all this disrespect for sanity? And you know what came to mind?
Nancy Pelosi dressed in the color of purity tearing up her copy of the State of the Union speech last January.
That's what got the riotous 2020 ball rolling. Ultimately her anti-government behavior triggered the violence. Her action was the model for destructive protest. She told the entire nation that destroying government property is a fine way to show your disagreement.
