The Israel Palestine Thing

Here is a guy who, on his 50th birthday, no less, gives a history of the Jewish population in the land referred to as Palestine and later as Israel. I have come across this history elsewhere for the past several years, but this video is a good summary. For some reason, I have been noticing since this latest war began that people who believe in Israel and its establishment in the land of Palestine in the early 1900's rarely brag about how they had to fight for the land. Many even act as though the Jews just bought the land and it wasn't worth much because it was basically dry desert.

I've heard that argument not only from Jewish sources but from Christian sources and right-wing Conservative sources and talk show hosts.

If you think about it, fighting for land is basically the method used when a new nation of people needs a homeland. Think of how much killing was involved in the formation of the United States of America, all the Indian wars, wars against the English, the French, the Spaniards, the Mexicans. Israel used violent means to win the land of Israel so why don't they do what Americans do, brag about it and about all the heroes who fought for their nation's homeland?

Years ago, I used to listen to the Steven King classic rock radio station in Bangor, Maine. I remember one year they spent a lot of time promoting an event to be held in Bangor where various vendors would assemble to display their wares in a banquet hall out behind a technical college that I attended back in the late '70s. The promotion was so good, so convincing, so persistent on the radio that I just had to go to the event, and I did. I even took my wife to it expecting it would be quite the event!

When we got there, she and I were both surprised at what a disappointment the show was. There were various vendors and yes, some products we hadn't heard about or seen before, but the event was a dud. There weren't that many vendors and there weren't that many people attending and the ones who did didn't seem to stay long. Neither did we so basically the day turned out to be a shopping day in Bangor - for rurals like us, a day in the "city".

We had been taken in by the power of advertising hype and that is the only reason I remember that event. I learned a precious lesson about "hype".

This spring a successful and very popular beer company decided to hype transgenderism and guess what happened? The whole world realized that hype sucks. No matter how hard you try, you can't hype what is fake and turn it into real.

I don't know about you, but when you think about it, when you sit and try to picture it, what these highly scholared scientific experts are asking us to believe is that no matter what direction we look with our magic telescopes, the farther we can see, the smaller the universe was when it sent out its light, light that is just now reaching us after 13 plus billion years. If we ever can look back far enough we will find the entire universe as a tiny ball no bigger than a tennis ball and we will find exactly the same thing - the same singularity - no matter what direction we look.

I call that insanity but they call it science.

And the whole point of it is that if that is what you believe, then you have no use for believing in an intelligent creator, God. Everything began in chaos and entropy took it from there. All thanks to the red shift.

Wouldn't it just make sense to come up with another explanation for the red shift?

Word has it this morning (reading mainstream media) that eight Republicans in the United States House of Representatives, upset that Speaker Kevin McCarthy hadn't lived up to his promises he made last January when he was given the position, voted with 208 Democrats to oust him.

One wonders why so many Democrats voted to remove him from office. He seemed to be helping them.

Even though only eight Republicans voted against McCarthy, had I been a member the number would have been 9. He didn't impress me much.

Pondering

It seems that in recent times - oh, say maybe the past two or three years - I have pondered the relationship between truth, the real kind of truth, and what many refer to as God. God is always kind of fuzzy as far as what He actually is when most of us think about what God is. None of us know exactly what God is.

But I was pondering just now and this thought came to me:

God is the objective observer of truth

I love to paraphrase to help me see what something is saying. Let me paraphrase myself here.

In order for an objective observer to observe, he or she needs to exist - in the sense that we remember the past and we remember who we are and what we have seen. He remembers. He observes and doesn't forget.

So that is the first characteristic of being the objective observer of truth - all truth, by the way. Nothing escapes truth. Even lies can't escape.

The second characteristic is the connection between memory and time. This God we speak of must actually exist in time. Memory involves the dimension of time beyond just this moment - the past, the present, and the future.

The only thing is, can we tune in to this dimension ourselves and maybe draw closer to objective truth...

Can we approach being within sight of the truth? Must we continue to hide?

Ponder that.

Days ago, the news outlets were flooded with the story that a small group of Republicans were preventing the passage of a "stopgap" bill that would fund the U.S. government for another 45 days, thus preventing a government shutdown, but I couldn't see how 21 or 22 Republicans in the House could wield such power. The math didn't add up. The news stories refused to explain it.

I wondered to myself, "Could it be possible that the Democrats joined that small group of Republicans and voted against the bill? Could it be that the Democrats were the ones risking a government shutdown but both the liberal and the conservative mainstream media sources were concealing that fact?

No," I said to myself, "they can't be all playing that dirty and no news outlets calling their bluff!"

Well...

The big push when the mRNA Covid vaccines were first introduced was to convince the general public that this new mRNA was just local in your body, that it stayed in your arm near the injection area and didn't spread through your body. Last time I checked the food we eat spreads throughout our entire body.

Why should we trust this? I mean, sure, if we want the world's population drastically reduced because of our fear of "global warming" then yeah, poison the population with known deadly lab-derived toxins. But there aren't many people that I know who think that way.

Let's "opt out" of this one. Let's protect our future.
